Where to stay:
We will make every effort to find hosts for those registered in the camp who would like to stay with a local hostl. Once you have registered for camp, please email Sharon with your name, how many nights you are staying, any allergies (pets especially) that you may have, and any other information that may be relevant. We may not be able to fill all requests, but we will fill them on a first come first served basis once you have registered.

There are many excellent hotel choices that are near to both Sweet’s Ballroom and the Lake Merritt Dance Center. The closest, and nicest option (and therefore the most expensive) is the Historic Lake Merritt Hotel where room rates start at $189 per night. This Art Deco hotel is just 5 blocks from the Lake Merritt Dance Center where all classes and the Sunday night Dance will be held, and 6 blocks from Sweet’s Ballroom where we will be dancing on Friday and Saturday nights. The most affordable hotel option is The Jack London Inn. They will allow up to 4 people to register for one room (with two queen beds), and they are offering the special price of $75 per night to anyone who mentions that they are with the Oakland Swing Dance Festival when registering. The hotel is located in Jack London Square which is adjacent to downtown Oakland. It is 18 blocks from Sweet’s Ballroom, and 25 blocks from the Lake Merritt Dance Center, so you would most likely want to catch a ride, cab, or bus to classes and dances although walking is possible. Another reasonably priced hotel that is a little closer to both venues is The Washington Inn. Their weekend rates start at $89 per night. They are located 8 blocks from Sweet’s Ballroom and 15 blocks from the Lake Merritt Dance Center, so walking during the day is a possibility. Visit www.washingtoninn.com.
